Amazon When you are trying to set up Gmail on your smartphone or smart device such as iPhone, iPad, Android phone, Android tablet in the email setting section, do you keep getting "Wrong Password", "Password Incorrect", "Cannot Get Mail", or "Account (null)" errors even though your Gmail email address and the password are both correct?

The error popup message may look like the following:

Password Incorrect
Enter the password for the Exchange account '(email account name)'

Root Cause

There are two possible root causes:

1. You have enabled the two-step verification process for your Gmail account. That's why when you've entered the correct password it's not enough to pass the verification process.

2. You do not have the two-step verification, but as a security precaution, Google may require you to complete an additional step when signing into a new device or application.
